Easter Mice

Our last Easter story takes place at an Easter egg hunt, but there is a surprise at the end. Following the story, I will show you a super easy, clean way to dye Easter eggs.

Thanks for tuning in to some of my favorite Easter stories. I hope you have a very happy Easter!

Congratulations to Jack and Wyatt Z. They are this week's book winners.

Next week I'll be reading more farm stories, and even sharing how we milk cows. I have another book to give away also. See you next week!

Peter Hatches An Egg

How is it possible that Peter Rabbit can hatch a baby chick egg?
Listen to today's story to find out.

This is a book I have had since I was very young. You can see by the cover, that it has been well loved!

Too Many Hopkins

It's garden planting time for the Hopkins family.
Can 15 bunnies all work in a garden at the same time?

Today's story is Too Many Hopkins by Tomie  DePaola.

A Day Late

I have a potato recipe I want to share with you. I served Roadside Potatoes
yesterday as part of our Easter feast with my family.

(Hey Jan, why didn't you post this before Easter so we could have served them too?)

I rarely publish a recipe on my blog that I haven't tried first. Come to think of it, I have only posted one recipe that I didn't make. The weird thing is...I served my Easter guests these potatoes without trying the recipe...but yet I won't share it with my readers without trying it. Hmmm...

Roadside Potatoes
24 ounces frozen hash browns
1 pint whipping cream
1 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Place hash browns in a 9x13 pan. Cover with Parmesan cheese. Melt butter and stir in whipping cream and salt. Pour mixture over cheese and hash browns. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until golden brown on top.

Everything's better with cheese!

* I also made a pan using cheddar cheese. Yummy!
** This basic recipe would be great with some additions- I'm going to try onions, or bacon bits, or green peppers, or ham pieces. The possibilities are endless! What would you add?

This and That Thursday - 20

A little bit of this and a little bit of that- here's what we've been up to.

With the snow melting and the rain falling; making our farm a muddy mess,
Farmer John's early birthday present is very much appreciated.
Take a look at our newest addition to our farm...

Good news this week! Daughter Sara called our family to our front yard, shot off some fireworks (literally!), and announced that she is nominated for Teacher Of The Year in our school district! If she is chosen in our district by her peers, she will then go on to the state contest. We are always very proud of her, as a daughter and a teacher, but it's always nice to get that pat on the back from her fellow educators. Her 8th grade Language Arts students are lucky to have her as their teacher.

As another crazy week winds down on our farm, we are reminded of the many blessings we continue to receive, especially the blessing of our risen Lord.
